PAST YEAR INCLUDE

DANIEL FOX FOUNDATION COLAB

Partnered with the esteemed Daniel Fox Foundation to deliver impactful Knife Crime Awareness workshops in secondary schools. The sessions equipped the students with vital knowledge to make life-changing decisions.

UNEARTHING HIP HOP HISTORY

Unearthing the rich hidden Hip Hop history ingrained within St Helens, we unravelled hidden international celebrity connections through 12 months of research. Our findings were proudly showcased in a captivating Heritage exhibition at the heart of St Helens Town Centre.

PIONEERING THE COMMUNITY

We pioneered the Merseyside, Cheshire, and West Lancashire School Breaking Championships to provide a platform for school athletes to represent their schools in a prestigious three-county Break Dancing league, inspired by Breaking in the Olympic Games.

EUROVISION PROGRAMME

Creating and spearheading events as part of the Eurovision Programme, which ignited local economies in Liverpool and St Helens with trade from tourism.

FOSTERING COMMUNITY

Collaborating with volunteers and artists to combat vandalism plaguing St Helens, fosteing a sense of community ownership and taking back our streets.

CURBED REOFFENDING RATES

Curbed reoffending rates by engaging with young people through our partnership work with St Helens Youth Justice Service. 

RAISED AWARENESS

Raised awareness and documented the achievements of black sporting heritage in Liverpool through our Breaking / Break Dance heritage project.

MEET THE SPEARHEAD BEHIND POWERED BY HIP HOP

INTRODUCING TOM GLYNN – AKA BBOY TOZZ

Powered by Hip Hop Director and Break Dance Coach Tom Glynn has been break dancing since 2002 and set up the National Award Winning Hip Hop organisation UC Crew in 2004. He spent over 15 years teaching and coaching for dance schools and workshops providers across the UK to master his craft.

 

He has been a successful Breaking/Break Dancing competitor in the UK for over 20 years and has also represented England at competitions in Turkey, Germany, Cyprus, Spain and Estonia.

Teaching and coaching has always been his passion, which is why UC Crew/Powered by Hip Hop is the leading organisation in the North West for Break Dancing and Hip Hop arts.

Between 2010 and 2018 Tom was recognised for his achievements in changing communities through Hip Hop Arts, he received awards in the House of Lords, carried the Olympic Torch and visited European countries to share his work.

In 2021 Tom became the 2nd person in the UK to graduate from the International Breaking Teachers Education Course, delivered by the BBoy & BGirl Dojo based in Helsinki, Finland.

In 2022 he hosted the first UK Breaking teachers conference and was a co-author of the UK Breakin Glossary of Terms book for the advanced of Break Dancing education.

Toms values haven’t changed since he founded the organisation and has a main focus on helping to improve confidence, offer new opportunities, create amazing dancers and improve communities
