At Powered by Hip Hop CIC, we believe science should be experienced, not just studied. Our work blends the vibrant energy of Hip-Hop culture with the fundamentals of physics to create an unforgettable, educational experience for audiences of all ages.
Earlier this year, we were proud to apply to the prestigious British Science Festival 2025. Although we were not selected due to an unprecedented number of high-quality applications, the feedback we received was extremely positive. We are excited to build on this momentum and hope to showcase our project at future events, including the British Science Festival 2026.

About the Event: “The Physics of Break Dancing”
Our interactive event was planned to explore scientific questions at the fascinating intersection of physics and the performing arts. Participants will experience:
How principles of rotational motion, torque, angular acceleration, and moment of inertia underpin complex break dancing moves like head spins.
How balance and friction influence stability during dynamic movements.
Through live demonstrations, break dance performances, and hands-on workshops, audiences will gain an engaging, visual understanding of physics in action.

The concept of our project was supported by The Ogden Trust, which helped us prepare it for funding bids to extend our work with schools, and we continue to seek new opportunities to collaborate with educational partners and public engagement events.
